My Dino Empire: How to Expand Your Base and Unlock the Next Floor
Expanding your base in My Dino Empire runs through the upgrade menu's Unlock floor option. Here's how it works, what it costs, and how to earn the cash for it.
Quick answer
To expand your base in My Dino Empire, open the upgrade menu at your base and choose Unlock floor. The game only lets you take it once you're holding the cash amount shown on that option — in one mid-game session, that price was 120 billion.
- The price is not fixed: it is displayed right on the Unlock floor option and climbs as you progress.
- Bone sales pay for the expansion — your dinosaurs dig up ancient bones and you sell them for cash.
- A new floor adds dino spots. Fill it with Equip Best and upgrade it before unlocking the next area.
How to unlock the next floor
Expansion is done from the upgrade menu at your base — the same menu that holds upgrades like digging speed:
- Walk up to the upgrade menu in your base.
- Select the Unlock floor option. It shows the cash requirement for the next floor or area.
- If you have enough cash, confirm it. The new floor becomes part of your base immediately — in one recorded session, a newly unlocked area to the right of the starting base simply joined the build, ready to use.
Note that Unlock floor adds whole new floors and dino spots. It is separate from the per-floor upgrades in the same menu, which improve what you already own — the base guide tours both.
What a new floor costs
There is no single fixed price. The requirement is shown right at the Unlock floor option, and upgrade prices in the menu increase as you progress. For a concrete reference point: in one mid-game session, a player with about 100 billion cash tried to unlock a floor and the game replied "you need 120 bill" — the next floor cost 120 billion at that stage. Earlier floors cost far less, and later ones cost more, so open the menu to see your current number.
How to afford the expansion
The expansion is funded by the game's core loop: your dinosaurs dig up ancient bones, and selling those bones at the SELL BONE(S) zone is the income that lets you save toward the next unlock. Every new floor means more dino spots, more diggers, and faster earnings — which is how you afford the floor after that. Working promo codes drop free cash that can shorten the wait, though they are not required; current ones are on the My Dino Empire codes page. For more on the core earning loop, see how to get bones.
What to do once the floor is yours
A newly unlocked area gives you extra spots where dinosaurs can be placed to dig bones — the Equip Best button drops your strongest dinos into the open spots. Two things to know before you rush to the next unlock:
- Each floor has its own upgradeable system. A fresh upstairs floor will not earn like your upgraded ground floor until you upgrade it too.
- Fill before you expand. One player's approach, and a sensible one: stock the new floor with dinos first, then save for the next area, so every spot you own is actually producing.
